Kristy had goosebumps as her 6-year-old daughter Franceska exclaimed, “Mommy, I prayed that prayer with him!”
Kristy and her daughter were at Franklin Graham’s Decision America Tour stop in Colorado—the eighth in his string of nationwide prayer rallies. It was a welcome event for Kristy, who afterward wrote the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association that she hadn’t felt God’s presence in Colorado very much and was motivated by that sentiment to start homeschooling her daughter recently.
Kristy was pleasantly surprised to see so many people attend, but was moved later during the rally. It was then her daughter announced that she prayed to accept Jesus Christ after Franklin Graham extended the invitation. It was an answer to prayer for Kristy who just earlier that morning had asked God to speak to her daughter’s heart.
“I wanted this to be all her,” Kristy wrote afterward. “I didn’t want to influence her at all. I wanted her to come to that herself at some point.”
Kristy shared with Franceska that her daddy actually accepted Jesus during a Billy Graham Crusade 40 years earlier in Lubbock, Texas. Franceska “freaked out” with happiness, Kristy wrote.
“She thought it was the coolest thing she ever heard,” Kristy noted. “She said, ‘Mommy, I think it’s awesome that my daddy got saved [at a Billy Graham Crusade] and I was saved at his son’s prayer rally.’”
But Kristy wanted to make sure her daughter’s decision was genuine so she talked openly with Franceska during a train ride afterward. Her daughter confirmed her choice, telling her mom, “I asked Jesus into my heart,” and “God lives in my heart now.”
