Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (BG-RRT) chaplains are serving in Round Rock, Texas, and New Orleans, Louisiana, as residents pick up the pieces after a string of tornadoes caused significant damage in both states.

Multiple tornadoes touched down as part of a severe storm system from Texas to South Carolina. Round Rock, which is just north of Austin, was one of the hardest-hit areas. At least one person in Texas and one person in the New Orleans area died in the storms, and many were injured.

“The tornadoes that swept through Texas and New Orleans are heartbreaking to see. It’s devastating when someone is killed and there is so much destruction,” said Josh Holland, international director of the BG-RRT. “We are praying for everyone involved and will have crisis-trained chaplains there to serve the people in both Texas and Louisiana to provide emotional and spiritual support for all of those who are hurting.”

Chaplains are serving alongside Samaritan’s Purse, providing a ministry of presence and sharing the hope of Christ. The BG-RRT Mobile Ministry Center is also set up at First Baptist Church Round Rock as a space where people can come meet with chaplains.

BG-RRT will continue to monitor other areas affected by the recent severe weather. The same storm system moved on to Louisiana and Mississippi on Tuesday, bringing more severe weather and tornadoes across the Southeast.

Please join in praying for all affected by these storms, as well as for crisis-trained BG-RRT chaplains as they minister in Round Rock and New Orleans.
