Triumph in Affliction

By   •   November 1   •   Topics: ,

May I remind you that physical illness is not the worst thing that can happen to you? Some of the most twisted, miserable people I have ever met had no physical handicap. Some of the world’s greatest and most useful people have been handicapped.

“The Messiah” was composed by Handel, who was suffering from a paralyzed right side and arm. Catherine Booth, in the last year of her life, said that she could not remember one day free from pain.

Helen Keller has written, “I thank God for my handicaps, for through them I have found myself, my work, and God.” Some of the most radiant Christians I have ever met were “wheelchair” saints. May God give you grace to “triumph in affliction.”

Prayer for the day

When physical afflictions come into my life, may they draw me closer to You, my beloved Lord Jesus Christ.

Oh how I regret not showing my two boys more of the Lord and not having either baptized! Especially when I was raised with such a strict Bible-based home! And was baptized Methodist and Baptist as I came from a broken home.

  2. Afolayan, Victor Adeleke says:

Hey @shanna I don’t know if you’re gonna see this but I’m gonna post anyway…I need you to believe it’s God’s will for you to be healed…Mark 16:17-18
Believe God for your healing. See yourself in the spirit. Your spirit man is perfect and is as Christ is (col 2:10 , 1 John 4:17)
Believe God for your healing…You were healed by His stripes…command healing on your body.

If you feel you can’t believe for it enough, consult an elder in Christ… James 5:15…The prayer of the finished work of Christ shall work it out. Hallelujah.

  3. Deborah Thompson says:

I used to watch Billy Graham with my Nana. We loved him so. He helped me come to know Jesus Christ.

Easier said then done. I’m a strong believer. Have serious medical condition, it constant pain for two years now and still going, can’t hardly work to afford medical help at all, so just suffer. Most days on couch unable to live life and it is depressing and hard. People who have not been through it can easily say pray have faith, but until you have been through it and your whole life changes overnight, its hard to give advice. I still praise God and love God, it is what it is.

  6. Gerry says:

God can use the most unlikely people for his purposes. The contrast between how they were and how they become once they give their life to him is absolutely amazing. The bible is full of great examples . The apostle Paul is among the greatest example.
