My heart goes out to you and to all who are facing this heart-wrenching problem – and no, it isn’t wrong to pray about it. In fact, it would be wrong for you not to pray and seek God’s wisdom! God is concerned about everything that concerns us – every worry, every care, every heartache.
And this is why we can bring every detail of our lives to Him in prayer – whether they seem to be “religious” or not. The Bible says, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God” (Philippians 4:6). The reason we can pray with confidence is because God loves us, and He wants what is best for us. He loves you so much that His Son was willing to give His life for you. Have you invited Christ to come into your life?
Once you understand how much God loves you, you will realize that He can be trusted to hear your prayers, and to answer them in the way that is best for you. One way He answers is by giving us wisdom to deal with our problems – which may be the case with you, perhaps by seeking advice from a trusted financial adviser.
Does this mean all your problems will suddenly vanish? No, not necessarily. Sometimes we have to pay the consequences for our own bad decisions; sometimes we don’t know why God allows some things to happen to us. But when we know Christ, we know we are never alone, and we can trust Him even in the roughest times.
