Yes, God did intend for the world to be a perfect place—and in fact that is the way He originally created it. The Bible says that “God saw all that he had made, and it was very good” (Genesis 1:31).
What went wrong? The Bible puts it in one word: sin. When God created the first man and woman, they had unbroken fellowship with Him, and everything they did was good and right. But one day Satan tempted them by saying they could become like God if they would only follow him—and they rebelled against God their Creator. When they did, sin and death—like a deadly cancer—entered the human race, and our world was no longer perfect.
Yes, God wants us to fight sin and work for a better world—but this world will never become perfect until sin and death and Satan are removed from it. And that will never happen until Christ comes again to rule in glory. Like God’s people throughout the ages, we too are “longing for a better country—a heavenly one” (Hebrews 11:16).
Is this your hope? Have you realized how deeply sin has invaded this world—and your own life? And have you realized what God has done to take away our sins by sending His Son to die on the cross for us? Yes, in limited ways we can make a better world—but only Christ can change our hearts. By a simple prayer of faith ask Him to come into your life today.
