I've just gotten out of the hospital after trying to take my own life. Things are better with me now and I don't plan to go down that road again, but how can I be sure I won't? Will God help me?

Yes, God will help you as you turn to Him and discover what it means to walk with Him every day. The Bible says, “No good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless” (Psalm 84:11).

How does God help us? First, He helps us by giving us the strength to do what is right. When we turn to Christ and ask Him to forgive us and help us, He comes to live within us by His Spirit. We are never alone when we know Christ, for God now dwells within us! He is with us every minute of the day, and He helps us as we turn in faith to Him. His Spirit encourages and helps us when discouragement or temptation comes our way. The Bible says, “The Spirit helps us in our weakness” (Romans 8:26).

He also helps us by reminding us that He loves us, and we are His children forever. If you forget everything else I say, I hope you will remember this: God loves you. He knows all about your struggles and failures, but He still loves you–and the proof is that He was willing to send His only Son into the world to die for you. Your life will never be the same once you realize how much God loves you.

Don’t face the future alone, or try to meet it only in your own strength. Instead, by a simple prayer of faith ask Christ to come into your life today–and He will. Then turn to Him every day and thank Him for His love and His constant presence with you.

Amazing how God is using Mr. Graham even after his homecoming. These articles will help me encourage my son to surrender his suicidal thoughts.

Several sucide attempts, obvious chronic depression, sever anxiety, mood issues, chronic pain, chronic insomnia, career lose 6 yrs ago due to stress anxiety depression, unable to hold simple jobs like a high school child could. I’m a college graduate. I have lost hope, last sucide attempt August 2016. There is God who blessed me with a wonderful husband and kids but due heavy depression, anxiety and now dealing with chronic physical pain it’s hard to keep going. I don’t want to kill myself because I know God has another plan. I don’t pray much these days except blessing, provision over my family. I ask God to help me control my anger and help me show love to others like I used to. I haven’t been myself in yrs.

    1. Ron says:

Lesley, I am dealing with chronic pain and some days are worse than others so I am trying to learn to ask God for help each day. I know that Joni Eareckson Tada has been though a lot. Sometimes I listen to her and it encourages me knowing someone else is going through something similar. Praying for you and your family. We just need God’s strength.

Please pray for me as I struggle with alcohol use. I have prayed and have confessed it to my Sunday teacher. Now I feel ashamed as I sit here with a drink again.

  5. Veronica Escalera says:

I’m a survivor of attempted suicide twice, I was diagnosed with clinical depression in 2015 after the loss of my mother and my husband of 11 years filed for divorced and took my two youngest daughters away from me. I know that some Christians are against tattoos but I have a recent one that represents that By Grace ; my life is going on. By the love of Christ

  6. Raul. Zavala says:

    Thank you JESUS

  7. Lynne Bates says:

Thank you. I needed to hear this today.

  8. Elmer Medina says:

I’ve thought about suicide for two years, I gave my life to Christ but i have trouble trusting him because of my failures in the past. I took the wrong path career wise and now I feel like a failure. I’ve been through some painful setbacks that have destroyed my hope for my future, I am unemployed and I feel like a loser and a hopeless, worthless excuse for a person, but I want to trust the Lord and put my faith and hope where it belongs, in him. I can be stubborn and I’m trying to let go of the past and stop my suicidal thoughts. Pray for me, and thanks. Your message is appreciated.
