You’re right, up to a point; no matter who we are, God created us and put us here. We aren’t here by chance; we are here because God made us—even if we don’t acknowledge it. The Bible says, “Children are a heritage from the Lord” (Psalm 127:3).
But something terrible has happened to the human race: we have turned against the One who gave us life. Just as children may rebel against their parents and even disown them, so in a far greater way we have rebelled against our one true parent: God. We decided instead to be independent and go our own way—and as a result we are no longer part of His family, and no longer His children. The Bible puts it this way: “But your iniquities have separated you from your God; your sins have hidden his face from you, so that he will not hear” (Isaiah 59:2).
This is why our greatest need is to be reconciled to God—and this is possible, because God loves us and yearns for us to return to Him. Jesus Christ came into the world for one reason: to become the final and complete sacrifice for our sins. When we put our faith and trust in Him, God forgives us and welcomes us into His family. The Bible says, “The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children” (Romans 8:16).
Have you faced honestly your need for Christ, and have you opened your heart and life to Him? If not, make your decision for Christ today.
