The most important advice I can give you is to seek God’s will for your future. God knows all about you, and He made you into the unique person you are. He knows your gifts and abilities—and He also knows your limitations. Why not seek His plan for your life?
My advice would be worthless, however, if God didn’t care about you, or if His plan for you wasn’t good. But that’s not the case! God loves you—and because He loves you, you can trust your life and your future into His hands. In other words, He not only knows what is best for you—He also wants you to have what is best for you. God’s promise is true: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:5-6).
How can you know God’s will? First, if you have never done so, commit your life to Jesus Christ. It is the most important step you will ever take. Then ask God to guide you and show you His will. Make it a matter of prayer every day, and be sensitive to His leading—through the advice of others, or opportunities that open up, or simply an inner conviction.
Remember: All you need to know is the next step—and that may be all God shows you right now. But He can be trusted to show you every other step.
