Early Tax Deductions for Haiti Relief Donations

You can get even more than a blessing out of giving to our Haiti World Emergency Fund. You can claim an early tax deduction when you file your 2009 return this April 15.

On January 21, the U.S. Senate unanimously passed a bill that will make donations given toward Haiti relief between January 12 and February 28 deductible for 2009.

Without this bill, donations designated to Haiti relief could not be deducted from income taxes until 2010 returns are filed early next year.

Taxpayers who itemize their deductions on Form 1040, Schedule A, can claim deductions to charities. Be sure to keep all records and receipts showing the date and amount of your contribution. To give to the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association Haiti Emergency Fund, click here.
