Q:

Where did all the different races come from? I have a hard time believing that God meant for there to be so much strife because of race, but does that mean the devil created the races?

A:

No, the devil did not create the various races. Instead, God created them and gave them their unique identity. The Bible says, “From one man (Adam) he made every nation of men, that they should inhabit the whole earth; and he determined the times set for them and the exact places where they should live” (Acts 17:26).

But God did not create the strife between races, nor did He intend for it to be that way. Strife between races and ethnic groups comes from sin—and sin resides in the human heart. The Bible says, “What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you?” (James 4:1). When one group or one race claims it is superior to another, pride has taken control—and pride is a sin.

Instead, God wants us to learn to accept each other and love each other—and this becomes possible, as we turn our lives over to Christ and allow Him to change us from within. When we allow sin to rule us, we easily give in to hate and anger. But Christ’s Spirit gives us love, even for those we once despised. The Bible says, “But the fruit of the Spirit is love” (Galatians 5:22).

It has often been said that the ground at the foot of the cross is level—and it is true. No matter who we are, we need Christ’s forgiveness and grace. Have you come to Him for the forgiveness and new life He offers?

Praise the Lord. Billy Graham is absolutely right. LOVE only wins over race as given in 1 Corinthians 13:13.

As I get closer to knowing what God wants of me I get closer to being warmer to a host of different races and nationalities. The older I get the more I know God wants all races to be a team practicing love for one another and teamly working to glorify His place in this world.

I have been in an argument on facebook with several persons who are either “God haters” or who blame all of their problems on white people. I have tried to share Jesus with these people, but am finding that this just makes them madder. I don’t know how to get them to see that the LORD is good and that he loves everybody. I would appreciate your suggestions. God Bless your wonderful ministry! Have a nice weekend.

Hi Bradley, it’s so good that you’re trying to reach people with God’s love and truth. You might be familiar with the Parable of the Sower in Matthew chapter 13. When we share the Gospel, the Bible says some will be transformed by it and others will not, for various reasons. We would encourage you not to give up, and to pray daily for the people you’re trying to reach. God loves them and wants them to accept the truth, but it is up to them whether they choose Christ or reject Him. Stay strong and stick to the heart of the issue, as opposed to getting caught up in minor disagreements. God bless you. We are praying for you. -BGEA team

I’ve heard it said that the various skin colors came after the great flood which gave us the different climates.

God finds beauty in all the races. We need to honestly confront our reasons for not accepting others, as God loves all. Even when we get hurt by others at times, keeping JESUS’ view will help us to remember that sin can blind us to facts. It is this blinding which gives a foothold to the enemy. Keeping God’s Truth at the centre of all we think and do, helps to avoid hàrmful, costly consequences. We all need JESUS. Amen
