One of the Bible’s greatest truths is that we weren’t created by God just for this life, but we were made to live forever. In other words, death isn’t the end for us, but the beginning of a whole new existence—either with God in heaven, or apart from Him in the place the Bible calls hell.

And no—we won’t be disembodied spirits floating around in heaven! God will give us new bodies in heaven—bodies that will be similar to Christ’s body after His resurrection. The Bible says that Christ, “by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body” (Philippians 3:21).

What will we look like in heaven? The Bible doesn’t say exactly—but you can be sure that all our weaknesses and imperfections will be gone, and our bodies will be perfect and ageless. The baby who died from a crippling disease won’t be a baby any longer; the old person who was feeble and frail will have perfect health. The Bible says, “What we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when he (Christ) appears, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is” (1 John 3:2).

It’s intriguing to think about heaven and what it will be like—but I pray you won’t lose sight of an even more important question. It is this: Do you know you are going there? You can, by giving your life to Jesus Christ and trusting Him alone for your salvation. Make sure of your commitment to Him.
