I have no reason to doubt you — but at the same time I can’t help but wonder why you’re even writing me if you’re as happy as you claim to be. Could it be that down inside you sense your life isn’t as complete as you wish it were, and you’re wondering if you might be missing something after all?
You see, God made us for Himself — but when we leave Him out of our lives something is missing, and there’s an empty place in our hearts. We can try to fill that empty place in many ways — and at times we may deceive ourselves into thinking we’ve been successful. But only God can fill it, as we open our hearts to Christ and come to know Him in a personal way. Jesus said, “This is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent” (John 17:3).
Why do you need God in your life? You need Him first of all for life right now — to help you meet life’s challenges and heartaches. It’s easy to think we don’t need God when our lives are untroubled — but where will you turn when sickness hits or people turn against you or troubles come crashing down upon you?
But you need God most of all for eternity. Some day you will face death — but without Christ you will face it alone, and you’ll be unprepared to meet God. Don’t deceive yourself any longer, but by faith open your heart to Jesus Christ.
