The most important thing I can tell you is that God loves you and doesn’t want you to destroy your life (which is what you’re in danger of doing). Your family cares for you (otherwise they wouldn’t keep trying to get you to stop drinking) – but God cares for you even more than they do, and He wants to help you. Jesus’ words are for you: “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).
How will God help you? First, when you give yourself to Christ, He’ll give you a new goal in life. You won’t want to just live for yourself; your goal will be to live for Christ. In fact, when you open your heart to Christ, He’ll come to live within you by His Spirit. You’ll never face temptation alone, and He’ll give you a new strength to face your problems (instead of fleeing from them by drugging yourself with alcohol).
But God also will help you by surrounding you with people who can assist you. When you come to Christ, you become a member of a new family – the family of God. Don’t turn your back on the help they want to give you, but ask God to give you the courage to seek their assistance. Many of them have been through the same problems you have.
Begin today by turning your life over to Christ. Tell Him that you know you need Him, and you want His help. Then seek out a pastor or other person who can direct you to the help you need.
