From the writings of the Rev. Billy Graham
Idolatrous beliefs have eroded the foundations of truth. Whether ancient or modern, all have posed alternatives to the Biblical way of approaching God. Many people have just enough natural religion to make them immune to the real thing.
Some Christian leaders are willing to give up some of the teachings of the Bible in order to harmonize Christianity with other religions. There are millions of professing Christians who have never possessed Christ.
Hundreds of philosophies and scores of religions have been invented to circumvent the Word of God, but following Jesus Christ and obeying His Word is what distinguishes Christianity from all religions of the world. Not only does Christianity carry the truth of redemption, by the death of our Savior for our sins on the cross, but it carries that fact that Christ rose again. True Christianity is God coming to man in a personal relationship.
Those who followed Jesus didn’t conform their faith to match the world. They had the truth, and they refused to water it down. They had a faith that would not compromise.
If faith isn’t rooted in the Bible, it will wither like a plant pulled out of the soil. Only a strong faith—a faith based on God’s Word—will bring salvation found only in Christ.
