No, it has never entered my mind to do anything like this, and one reason is because the Bible strongly warns us against such practices. It bluntly says, “Anyone who does these things is detestable to the Lord” (Deuteronomy 18:12).
Why is this? The reason is because things like this do not come from God but are always associated in the Bible with occult spiritual forces that are opposed to God. When the fortunetellers and sorcerers in Ephesus came to Christ, they immediately burned their magic scrolls, because they knew they couldn’t follow both Christ and the occult (see Acts 19:18-19).
Admittedly, much that passes for fortunetelling today is little more than guesswork, or is so vague that you can read into it anything you wish. But don’t be deceived; even a casual interest in such things can open the door to the occult—and this is very dangerous spiritually because it will turn you away from God. Only He can forgive our sins, and only He can give us the hope of eternal life through faith in His Son, Jesus Christ.
And only God knows the future! But when we know Christ, we don’t need to be worried and anxious about the future, because we know we are safely in His hands no matter what happens. Don’t follow the wrong road in life, but by faith open your heart and life to Christ and trust Him alone for your salvation.
