Yes, God knows all about us—including everything we’ve ever done and everything we’ve ever thought (even if we never expressed it). The Psalmist said of God, “You perceive my thoughts from afar … You are familiar with all my ways” (Psalm 139:2-3).
It’s wrong, however, to think that God is just like a massive computer, endlessly storing up information about us. The main difference is this: a computer doesn’t love you or care anything about you—but God does! If God didn’t care about us, He wouldn’t bother remembering what’s been happening in our lives. He also wouldn’t care about our worries and heartaches—or even the wrong things we’ve done that brought us harm. But He does care.
And because God loves us and cares about us, we don’t need to be scared of the future or shrink back from His judgment—not when we know Christ. On one hand we deserve to be scared over what we’ve done—because we have sinned, and we deserve only God’s judgment. But on the other hand, because He loves us, God has provided the way for all our sins to be forgiven and removed. That way is Jesus Christ, who by His death took upon Himself the judgment we deserve.
Why carry the burden of your sins any longer? Instead, give them—and your whole life—to Jesus today. When we come to Christ, all our sins are taken away—almost like hitting your computer’s delete button! The Bible says, “As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us” (Psalm 103:12).
