I am studying the young history of the World Wide Web and while the early intention was to provide a public outlet for sharing knowledge, it’s not been good for society. Even its architect declares that people cannot control their own data, and it is staggering to see the access it gives to unimaginable evil.

Humanity seeks answers to the moral sickness and the spiritual emptiness that oppresses the world. Historians point out that there have been few times in all history when people have been subject to fear and uncertainty. The “age of anxiety” seems always present.
Talk of peace continues, while wars rage. We devise elaborate schemes for security but have not found it. We grasp at every passing straw and, even as we clutch, it disappears. For generations we’ve been running like frightened children, first up one blind alley and then another.
We think that political freedom will bring happiness. We strive for more education, believing it will fix the world’s problems. The brightest, most inviting path of all was the one marked “higher standards of living;” surely this one would bring an abundance of joy. Each time we’ve told ourselves, “This path is the right one; this one will take us where we want to go.” We’re ensnared in the web of our own thinking, trapped so cleverly and so completely.
The answer to the problems people face can be found in Jesus Christ, who brings hope to the world through the salvation He offers and the forgiveness He gives to those who will humble themselves before Him. Only Christ can meet our deepest needs. Christ alone can [and will] bring lasting peace—peace with God, peace among nations, and peace within our hearts. He transcends the political and social boundaries of our world.
