Q:

Does God reveal things through dreams and visions?

A:

The Bible indicates that God revealed His will to selected people through dreams or visions in Scriptures such as Genesis 37:5-10; 1 Kings 3:5-15; Daniel, chapters 2 and 7; Matthew 1:20; 2:13,19; and Acts 10:9-16; 16:9.

God may communicate through dreams or visions even today, but we need to carefully check any such guidance we receive with Scripture and godly counsel to be sure it is from the Lord. Anything which contradicts Scripture is not from God. Our minds and even Satan are capable of producing great deception in such subjective areas.

2 Timothy 3:16-17 shows that God has revealed His will to us primarily through His Word. It says, “All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work.”

I once prayed for God to give me a sign about my future husband because I was (and still am) in love with a man who I hadn’t met yet. A few days later I dreamt that I met him at the mall by the bathrooms (of all places!) and we hugged. When he hugged me it felt really warm and comforting. I think that was my sign from God.

Be careful. The enemy is deceptive and will have you to believe that something or someone is from God, when all along it’s from him (the enemy). Remember, the enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy. Ask God to reveal to you CLEARLY through His Word. Because the enemy can show you a sign as well. God Bless.

There is a place in Scripture that says God will speak to us in dreams – “‘In the last days, God says,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people. Your sons and daughters will prophesy, your young men will see visions, YOUR OLD MEN WILL DREAM DREAMS. (Acts 2:17) Many Muslims are coming to know Christ through dreams.

Since my son was little (Who is now 19) I had dreams of him dying or visions that were so real… To the point where I would cry uncontrollably.. I see his funeral the reaction of me..
It’s killing me… I want these visions to flee my mind.. I pray n I rebuke them, but it comes on stronger!!!

My wife left me almost eight years ago. We were together almost twenty years and have three children together. I miss her terribly. In my dream she crawled into my arms. I kissed her once tenderly. She told me she still loved me. I’m praying this is from Him.

    1. David says:

Don, I am so sorry to hear that your wife left you; especially being with her for such a long time. I can’t even imagine how terribly you miss her. I couldn’t even imagine what life would be like without my girlfriend; I would be so lost that’s for sure. I am praying for you that your dream is from Him.

What Happens if you can see the future through visions and in your dreams what do you do then i mean how do you control it?

    1. Matthew A Breen says:

      1. Be in control of your emotions. Put into practice what the word teaches such as being quick to listen and slow to speak and slow to become angry. 2. Pray continually for the Lord to keep guiding you, to remain on the Lord’s path and for courage. 3. Learn how to test any spirit that speaks to you. 4. Study the word and reflect on it daily. 5. Understand that people around you may not be able to help you because they do not have experience. 6. Understand that your emotions and faith will be tested. 7. Help yourself to relax by knowing that ultimately God is in control and not you. 8. Take one day a week to relax and rest. 9. Take one day a week to spend time with the Lord and rest. Peace be with you fellow Sister. I hope this helps you.
