What You Can Do Now to Support Uvalde Families After Deadly Shooting

When crisis hits, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed and helpless. Maybe that’s how you’re feeling after 21 people lost their lives in a senseless shooting at an elementary school in Uvalde, Texas.

“As a father myself, I looked on in complete and utter shock,” said Josh Holland, international director of the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (BG-RRT).

Billy Graham chaplains are there now to comfort this heartbroken community in the devastating aftermath.

And there’s something you can do, too: Pray, Holland said, because the power of prayer can’t be underestimated at such a time as this.

  • Pray for the parents of children lost as they move through this nightmare.
  • Pray for families of the two teachers who were going about their jobs when they tragically lost their lives.
  • Pray for school children and others grieving when they should have been looking forward to summer break.
  • Pray for God to sustain first responders as they cope with what they have seen and heard.
  • And for Uvalde as a whole as the community bands together to support each other in the days ahead.
