Their Spare Time Led to Eternal Purpose at the Billy Graham Library

The Billy Graham Library in Charlotte, North Carolina, includes a free tour called The Journey of Faith, which recounts the story of how God has used Billy Graham to communicate the Gospel over the decades.

Five young professionals finishing up the Billy Graham Library’s Journey of Faith tour earlier this year caught the eye of a Library volunteer. The three men and two women all had decision cards, which Library visitors can use to indicate a decision to follow Christ.

The volunteer nearby, David Carrier, invited the group to use the tables outside the Library’s prayer room to fill out the cards. Then he silently prayed for the group as they bent over the cards, pencils in hand.

One by one, each of the five handed their cards to David. His heart began to soar in praise to God as he realized that every one of the young men and women had indicated that they wanted to receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

David invited the group to come into the prayer room, where a female volunteer offered to talk and pray with the two women while David sat down with the three men.

They told him that they were in Charlotte for a conference and had decided to visit the Library because they had some extra time on their hands.

But the Bible says, “My times are in Your hand” (Psalm 31:15, NKJV), and God had His own purpose.

All three men listened intently as David reviewed and explained in personal terms the plan of salvation that had stirred their hearts during the tour.

Then David asked the first man if he indeed wanted to give his life to Jesus Christ in repentance and faith. The young man replied with a definite “Yes.”

David turned to the second man and then the third, asking the same question. Each one nodded firmly and answered “Yes.”

David prayed with them, asking that God would strengthen and grow this trio of new Christians. Then he presented each of them with a Bible and discipleship materials.

Before the group departed, both women shared that they had just prayed to rededicate their lives to Christ after drifting away from Him.

All five left the Library with their lives forever rewritten.

David says, “I think that I was given the privilege of reaping the harvest where others had sown and watered. I can’t stop praising the Lord for what He did through the Library here today.”

Is it time to ask Jesus into your life, too?
