In late July, a man was playing video games with his son at their home in Cohasset, California, when he got an emergency alert on his phone. Wildfires were sweeping through the area. Dropping everything, they barely had time to escape the flames.

The Park Fire that broke out on July 24 is now almost completely contained, but it’s burned around 430,000 acres and left extensive damage in the state’s Butte and Tehama counties. More than 250 buildings have been destroyed, impacting hundreds of people.

The Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (BG-RRT) is deploying to Cohasset to offer shaken residents emotional and spiritual support.

“So many have lost so much due to this tragic fire. We can see the sheer size and scope of the overall damage, but within that are the individual people and families that are left heartbroken and in turmoil,” said Josh Holland, international director of the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team.

“Chaplains who have been specifically trained in crisis response will be there during this time of loss and grief, providing comfort and the hope of Jesus.”

Please pray for hurting people across northern California, and for the chaplains who will be ministering to them.
