How to Pray for BGEA

By   •   February 2, 2010

“Why? Because every soul is precious and we want to reach as many lost people as possible, in every place possible, using every means possible, before our Lord returns. And, so, we need your prayers.”

Billy Graham says, “We are to pray in times of adversity, lest we become faithless and unbelieving. We are to pray in times of prosperity, lest we become boastful and proud. We are to pray in times of danger, lest we become fearful and doubting. We need to pray in times of security, lest we become self-sufficient.”

With 2010 in full swing, each and every person who works at BGEA is aware of how much we rely on prayer to accomplish the work God has set before us. We can’t do it alone. We need you to support us in prayer, especially this year, with so many challenges in the world.

To get you started, we have listed prayer requests from many of our ministry areas and leaders:

THE BILLY GRAHAM LIBRARY

  • As we embrace the New Year and the exciting upcoming exhibits and events at the Library, pray visitors will allow God to work in their hearts and lives and that we would see many come to Christ.

CHURCH MINISTRIES

  • Pray for the multiplied thousands of teens and youth to attend the FM419 (“Follow Me,” from Matthew 4:19) evangelism and discipleship training in all of our Festival and Rock the River Tour cities, domestically and internationally.
  • Pray for all the participating churches to have qualified pre-trained small group leaders prepared for the preservation of all those who make commitments in the Domestic Rock the River Tour cities and international Festivals.
  • Pray for a sufficient number of counselors for one on one counseling in the Festival and Rock the River Tour cities.
Pray for the instructors as they teach the adult and older youth in the Christian Life and Witness Classes in all the Festival and Rock the River Cities.
  • Pray that every person who makes a decision will be connected to a church for discipleship and share their new spiritual life with others who need to receive Christ as Lord and Savior.

SCHOOLS OF EVANGELISM

  • Pray for new and fresh ideas for speakers, programs and promotion of the Schools of Evangelism.
  • Pray for efforts to reach younger pastors more effectively.
  • Pray for revival in the churches as a result of the pastors’ involvement in the Schools of Evangelism.

  • Pray for our 14,800+ Team D2BD (trained students) as they become “doers of the word” and share the Gospel with their friends and family.
  • Pray for more ministries to use our resources as they equip their young teens to do the work of evangelism.
  • Pray for the ministry team as we are developing international versions of Dare To Be A Daniel.

RAPID RESPONSE TEAM (RRT)

  • In the aftermath of the devastating earthquake in Haiti, please pray for the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team as they continue to minister on several front in Haiti as well as in Florida with those who have been ministering in Haiti and are transitioning back out. The devastation is overwhelming yet we see and hear the hand of God transform the lives of men, women and children who are confronting death yet finding new life in Christ.
  • The various other opportunities that the RRT will have through other deployments in 2010 that they will appropriately and diligently bring God’s hope and comfort to those in need during times of crisis. The new ministry in Puerto Rico and training this Spring.
  • The international RRT Offices: The ministry and trainings that occur in Canada and the U.K. Along with the trainings in Edinburgh and London in March.
  • Those who go through the training elements in preparing their hearts and minds to deploy.
  • For the military events this summer and fall to those who serve our country as they are encouraged to live their lives for Jesus Christ in these diverse and changing times.

CRUSADE MINISTRIES

  • Pray for all the Preparation details as the North American team prepares in conjunction with Christ’s churches for the Rock the River Tour West in western Canada.

MY HOPE WORLD EVANGELISM THROUGH TELEVISION

  • Pray that BGEA as well as national leaders and church leaders would know the right timing for My Hope in their countries.
  • Pray for pastors and national coordinators as they train tens of thousands, in some cases hundreds of thousands of people, to share their faith in Christ with others.
  • Pray for the funds to implement My Hope. It is very expensive to purchase prime time on national TV for My Hope broadcasts, and to produce hundreds of thousands of pieces of training literature.
