“The wisest of women builds her house,
but folly with her own hands tears it down.” —Proverbs 14:1
Cissie Graham Lynch is encouraging women on her newest Fearless podcast episode—released on International Women’s Day—to not measure themselves by the world’s standards.
After all, it can be easy to fall into the trap of comparing yourself to the picture-perfect photos on Instagram or the success stories shown across the news. While March 8 is the day society has chosen to celebrate all women have achieved over the years culturally, politically and economically, there’s so much more that goes on behind the scenes in women’s daily lives.
“Today, I want to ask you what kind of woman do you want to be?” Lynch asked. “We each have our own different stories. We have our own struggles, our own stories of success, our own stories of disappointments.”

To her, International Women’s Day is a time to see what Scripture says about the characteristics of a godly woman—and pursue those traits.
“We have seen from Genesis to Revelation, women play a pivotal role in history,” Lynch said, referring to multiple examples in the podcast. “And they will continue to. The influence of a godly woman is unmistakable.”
In fact, Lynch named her daughter, Margaret, after a woman she met in Thailand. The woman’s husband had left her, but she found renewed passion and purpose when God called her to work in a children’s home.
In the podcast, Lynch shares stories of numerous women who have changed her outlook on life from older generations in her family to those she’s met while serving overseas.
“Timothy, in Scripture, gives his mother and his grandmother the credit for raising him in a godly, God-fearing way. Wherever God has called you, I’d encourage you to stand for truth. You stand in grace. You stand unafraid and unashamed of the Gospel for these days,” Lynch said.
“Because [life] is going to get … harder. We can’t fathom what’s to come. But as godly women, we can stand in strength.”
