“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
—Joshua 1:9
On a new episode of her Fearless podcast posted late last week, Cissie Graham Lynch tackled the topic the entire world is talking about: the coronavirus outbreak.

“Over the last couple of days, I have come across some friends, Christian friends, who have been so fearful,” Lynch said, “and I want this episode to be an encouragement to you and a resource to you, not to have a fearful faith in the middle of a crisis.”
In the 22-minute episode, Lynch—the daughter of Franklin Graham and granddaughter of the late Billy Graham—talks candidly about how easy it is to go into panic mode over the virus. As a mother of two young children, she discussed the need to take precautions like staying home as much as possible and keeping little hands clean. But she was quick to warn Christ followers about the temptation to live in fear.
“For Christians … let this be a time to share the hope of Jesus with others,” Lynch said. “This is a huge opportunity for Christians to be light and to serve and meet the needs of others.”
During the episode, Lynch points to four things Christians can do in the face of the coronavirus outbreak. The overarching theme: trust God and seek Him out, especially when anxiety begins to creep in.
“God, who commands the sun to rise every single morning, He is in control of this situation,” Lynch said. “I was just praying that His peace would flood the souls of those who are worrying right now.”
