“When’s the last time you heard a pastor speak from the pulpit about sexual immorality?” Cissie Graham Lynch asked on her most recent Fearless podcast episode.
As more and more Christians today approve of premarital sex—50% according to a recent survey—many churches have chosen to stay silent on the issue. Some Christian parents have even thrown in the towel and are now teaching their kids safe sex instead of encouraging abstinence.
“As a culture we say times have changed, and we want to think God’s standards have changed,” shared Lynch. “But they haven’t.”
The Apostle Paul warned the early church of Corinth to “flee from sexual immorality” (1 Corinthians 6:18, ESV). Tolerating—or ignoring—sexual sin in the church goes against the truth of Scripture.
How can we uphold these Biblical values even as many in the church are compromising?
Lynch encourages believers to have these hard conversations with their children—and to stand for God’s truth in today’s culture.
“We have to remember that He is our Heavenly Father, and He wants the very best for us. He wants us to thrive,” Lynch said.
