After Winter Storm Landon—a massive ice storm that stretched from Texas to New England—caused major power outages and downed trees, the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (BG-RRT) is serving in hard-hit Memphis, Tennessee.

“As we see the many lives impacted because of this ice storm in Memphis, our hearts are heavy for those who have had great loss,” said Josh Holland, assistant director of the BG-RRT. “Our crisis-trained chaplains are there to provide emotional and spiritual care as the area begins the recovery process.”

A team of six chaplains is partnering with Samaritan’s Purse, a volunteer ministry that repairs homes after disaster. The winter storm’s sub-freezing temperatures and heavy ice caused damage to hundreds of homes. As homeowners’ yards are cleaned up, Billy Graham chaplains are talking with residents, hearing their storm stories and offering prayer.

In addition, the team’s Mobile Ministry Center, a vehicle that serves as a safe, warm area for spiritual conversations and prayer, is parked in the region for locals to visit.

Billy Graham chaplains are also ministering in the aftermath of the wildfires in Boulder, Colorado, and Hurricane Ida in Houma, Louisiana.

Please keep all those affected in your prayers.
