The Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (BG-RRT) provided emotional and spiritual support to the hurting in Las Cruces, New Mexico as they grieved a tragic police fatality on that took place on February 11.
Officer Jonah Hernandez—a two-year member of the Las Cruces, New Mexico Police Department—was stabbed to death while responding to a trespassing report. The 35-year-old is survived by his wife and two young sons.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the Las Cruces Police Department and the family and friends of Officer Jonah Hernandez,” said Josh Holland, international director of the BG-RRT.
“It’s always difficult to hear of the tragic loss of a law enforcement officer in the line of duty,” he said. “Chaplains through our National Law Enforcement Ministry are trained for situations like this to listen to, comfort, pray and share God’s love with those who have been affected.”
