A Glimpse of a Glorious Future

Ten months after he became a Christian, Pedro Garcia saw a flier at his church about an upcoming seminar at the Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove. The seminar speakers were Skip Heitzig and his pastor at that time, Bob Coy.

“I signed up for the event, traveled to North Carolina, showed up at the Cove, and Bob (Coy) wasn’t event there,” said Garcia.

But God had something much bigger than a seminar in store for him. He placed a call on Garcia’s life into full-time ministry, right there on the Cove’s grounds.

Now, years later, he has received another call: the call to come back to The Cove; only this time as a seminar speaker. From October 26-28, he is speaking with other well-known pastors Greg Laurie and Levi Lusko about the return of Jesus.

In the meantime, he is working to prepare his own church and community for the second coming of Christ.

“Jesus tells us to occupy until He returns. There is no better time to be involved in the Lord’s work. I urge all people to live with urgency that the Lord could come back at any moment and to be about his business.”

Lusko is also preparing others for the second coming of Christ. Two years ago, he moved with his family and a group of friends to Kalispell, Montana. He started a Bible study, which eventually grew to be Fresh Life church, where he is the senior pastor. He recently took his church through a 42-week study in the book of Revelation. “I’ve never seen such a response or an interest in Christ’s return,” said Lusko. “Every week, we have people giving their life to Christ.”

He also says it is important to continue to live out our everyday lives in light of this truth: that Jesus is, indeed, coming back.

“We need to allow this reality to infiltrate every aspect of our lives. There is no end to what we could do for the Kingdom between now and that time. The truth of Jesus coming soon shouldn’t allow us to backslide; it should keep us passionate about the Gospel.” He continued, “Jesus told us to be passionate, and to be busy. As a Christian, it is our job to be spreading the Word. We should live in a way so we will not be ashamed when He comes back.”

Laurie added, “Franklin (Graham) felt the urgency to emphasize the imminent return of Jesus. This is a subject near and dear to my heart. You don’t have to be an expert. Bottom line: Jesus Christ is coming back. This question is, are you prepared? Are you anticipating it?”

Laurie will be talking more specifically about Heaven: what happens when we get there, and what it will be like. “We won’t talk about intricate details, but we will discuss what it means and how it should affect the way we live,” he said. “Another reason I am personally passionate about the topic of heaven is because my son is there, and we all have loved ones there.”
