I got a very serious infection when I went into the hospital for some surgery a few months ago, and I almost lost my life. Who saved me, God or my doctors? My wife says it was God, but what difference does it make?
Answer
My wife is totally disabled because of a massive stroke, and probably won't ever get better. Now some of my friends are telling me I'm crazy not to find a mistress. How can I explain to them that God wants me to be faithful to her as long as she lives, without sounding like I'm strange?
Answer
If something bad happened to one of our parents, does this mean God is going to make it happen to us also? My mom died of breast cancer when she was fairly young, and now I'm afraid the same thing will happen to me.
Answer
I've always been a very active person, but several months ago I had a stroke and now I'm confined to my home. I feel so useless. I want to do things like I used to, but I can't, and it's frustrating. I can't even go to church.
Answer
The doctor says I have at most six months to live (because of lung cancer) and I know they aren't going to be happy ones. Why would it be wrong for me to take my own life? I'll just be a nuisance to my family if I hang around.
Answer
Recently, I was diagnosed with a rare blood disease that put me in the hospital and still keeps me weak. At first, my friends expressed concern (including many in our church), but now no one ever calls or asks if they can help. Why is this? Should I just have kept my problems to myself?
Answer
Our son wants us to have a health care document about our treatment if we become incapacitated. Do you see any moral or religious objection to doing this?
Answer
The doctor says I have breast cancer, and I'm scared. How can I get the kind of faith my grandmother had?
Answer
My neighbor was diagnosed with cancer, and all it's done is make her angry at God.
Answer
Why don't churches try to get some of their members to visit lonely people in nursing homes?
Answer
As a disabled person, how can I avoid falling into self-pity and despair, when I know I'm never going to get better?
Answer
I'm in my 80s and crippled from arthritis and other problems. Why is God keeping me here? I'd rather be in heaven.
