Answer
My nephew refuses to look for a job because he says he knows what God wants him to do, and until God leads him to the right job, it would be wrong for him to take another.
Story
Do All Things Work Together for Good?
Answer
I was discharged from the military recently after being in Iraq for two tours of duty, and while there I barely escaped serious injury or death at least three times. In fact, some of my buddies didn't make it. I can't help but feel that God must have spared me for a reason, but how do I figure out what it is? I'm kind of at loose ends right now.
Answer
How do I know if I'm praying according to God's will? I know God won't answer me if my prayers aren't in line with His will, but how do I know if I'm asking for something He isn't willing to do?
Answer
How do I know when I make a decision about something that it'll be right? I'm afraid I'm not very good at making wise decisions.
Answer
My friend says that we're either doing God's will or we aren't doing God's will, and there isn't anything in between. But we're never perfect, are we? So how can we ever say we're doing God's will completely, when we're probably only doing it halfway?
Answer
We pray the Lord's Prayer in our church every week, but do you think the time will ever come when God's will actually is going to be done on earth as it is in heaven (as the prayer says)?
Answer
Friends of mine say I ought to seek God's will for some decisions I've got to make, but why should I do that? I believe in God and all that, but I'm afraid He'll ask me to do something I don't want to do.
Answer
I know I'm supposed to trust God for the future, but I'm having a hard time doing that right now. I lost my job a few months ago, and I've given up even praying about it because it doesn't seem to make any difference. Maybe you can encourage me somehow.
Answer
When I was young, people told me that God put us here for a purpose. I asked God to show me what it was, but I'm in my 80s now and I can't say I've ever done anything special. I tried to do what was right, to be a good husband and father, and to help our church, but did I miss something?
Answer
Is everything that happens already determined by God, and it's going to happen no matter what we do? Or do we have the ability to carry out plans on our own, regardless of what God hoped would happen? I have a real struggle understanding this.
Answer
Our youth leader at church says God has a specific plan for each of us, but I have a hard time believing it. Why would God worry about every little detail of my life, when He has much bigger things to take care of?
