‘The NFL Today’ Host J.B. Brown Encourages Men to Live by Faith
Friday night, James "J.B." Brown spoke at
The Billy Graham Library's
annual men's dinner event in Charlotte, North Carolina. Brown is the host of
The NFL Today
on CBS and
Inside the NFL
on Paramount+. He is also a special correspondent for CBS News, an ordained minister and an author.
A thunderstorm, evening traffic and even some power outages in Charlotte, North Carolina, didn't stop 180 men from attending the event at the
Billy Graham Evangelistic Association
headquarters.
"As a brother in Christ, I understand that while my avocation is in the world of sports, my vocation is about the Word of God," Brown said.
Men enjoyed browsing through a special display of Billy Graham’s sports-related archives.
Glenn Tompkins Jr. attended the event after receiving a ticket from his wife for Father's Day. "I love that [Brown] is a foundational Christian in a secular world," said Tompkins, who especially appreciates how the sportscaster tries to uplift those around him. He liked Brown’s reminder: “As the old saying goes, if somebody accuses you of being a Christian, there better be enough evidence to convict you.”
The program included live trivia with all questions related to sports, Mr. Graham and Brown. First and second place prizes were awarded. Brown also opened up the floor for a Q&A after his message.
The audience enjoyed a delicious buffet BBQ dinner.
Although Brown offered several sports stories, he mostly shared his heart: "There is nothing more important you can do—especially with those of us who have a little age on us now—is to settle in your own mind and heart whether God is or whether the Bible is what it says it is."
>> Do you truly believe in God?
Place your trust in Him today.
As Brown offered compelling evidence behind the truth of the Bible, many listened intently.
The Harvard University graduate and three-time Emmy Award winning network broadcaster was recently inducted into the Sportscasters Hall of Fame.
The gathering was a great reason for friends and family to fellowship.
Attendees smile for the camera during a photo op with the sports broadcaster they'd watched on TV for years.
