Photos: Will Graham Opens Celebration of Hope in Scotland
Will Graham preaching the Gospel during the Celebration of Hope in Peterhead, Scotland in October, 2016.
The
free event
features music and a message from Will Graham and is taking place at Peterhead Academy, with live link locations in the cities of Banff, Fraserburgh and Elgin.
The Celebration of Hope, which will run through Oct. 9, is the culmination of many years of
prayer and planning
.
Situated on the frigid North Sea, the centuries-old fishing village is as windswept as it is beautiful. And for Will Graham, it feels a
bit like home
, “I feel like I’m coming back to my homeland. I need to see my people and be around them a little more,” Will laughed. “I’m three-fourths Scottish, so I feel like I’m around my kinfolk here. It’s where my roots are.”
With hands and voices lifted, all praise was directed heavenward.
Spending time in prayer before the Celebration.
Will Graham is following in his grandfather’s and father's footsteps by preaching in picturesque Scotland. Billy Graham
preached there three times
, while Franklin Graham shared the Gospel there in 1999.
"You may be impressed with Jesus. You may consider yourself a Christian. But you've never made Him Lord of your life," Will Graham urged those in attendance to open their hearts to Jesus Christ.
Psalm 96:11-12 states, "Let the heavens rejoice, and let the earth be glad. Let the sea roar, and all its fullness. Let the field be joyful, and all that is in it. Then all the trees of the woods will rejoice before the Lord."
Psalm 145:3 declares, "Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised, and his greatness is unsearchable."
"Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life" (John 8:12).
"Some of you have been gambling with eternity. Tonight I'm going to ask you to make the most important decision of your life," Graham said, before inviting people to step forward and talk with counselors about their decisions.
Will Graham told the crowd, "God wants to forgive your sins. You can't buy it. You can't earn it. You can only receive it." Have you received
God's forgiveness and love
today?
While the state of the European Union has left an air of uncertainty over Scotland, Hans Mannegren says God can bring peace to an already faithful population. “These people are serious about their faith,” said the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association’s director of European affairs. “There’s a longing to see a spiritual awakening and a revival within their churches, and a spiritual awakening in North East Scotland and Scotland in general."
Days before the Celebration, Will Graham requested prayer via his
Facebook page
, saying, "Please pray that many would come and hear the truth of the risen Savior, and that they would embrace the opportunity to begin a relationship with Him." Would you keep this Celebration in prayer this week?
