A Need for God

By   •   October 21   •   Topics:

The age-old issue, “Can man save himself, or does he need God?” is still raging across the world as furiously as ever. As long as the world goes on, people will build towers of Babel, fashion their graven images, and invent their own ideologies. Now, as in every period of history, people think they can manage without God.

Economically, they may manage; intellectually, they may manage; socially, they may get by. But down underneath the surface of rational man is a vacuum-a void that can be met only through Jesus Christ. The most astounding fact of all history is that the great and almighty God of heaven can live in your heart. It makes no difference who you are.

Does God live in your heart? Fill the void in your life and commit yourself to Jesus.

Prayer for the day

You fill the emptiness and longing of my soul. I need the presence of Your Spirit, dear Lord.

Life will be difficult at times ….no one is exempt. The huge difference is how we decide to handle theses situations. There are only two choices. One is with God’s merciful help and the other is on our own. I have tried it both ways and without any doubt , God is the way to go. His Love and mercy will ultimately guide you on the path you should follow.

Dear sirs, I’ve all but given up my will to go on. I will try to find someone who can explain to me why I should continue to live. All I ever have is bad/ negative actions happen to me daily. I’ve cried, felt sorry for myself, prayed and even asked and begged others to help me to no avail. Could it be that God is not so forgiving as I was led to believe? Can and does God hate certain people as myself. Do I have a bad luck omen curse hexed upon my whole being? I lose at everything. I need a financial miracle blessing. This would help my situation of being depressed, alone and homeless. Thank you and keep the faith.

    1. BGEA says:

      Hi Juanita,

We are very concerned that you have considered suicide, and we urge you not to take this drastic, final step. God loves you and wants what is best for you. He has a future for you — both on this earth and in eternity. Remember that you are important to Him. He says, “You are precious to me . . . and I love you” (Isaiah 43:4). The very reason Jesus Christ came to earth to offer Himself in sacrifice is so that we might have life in all its fullness. It is His desire that we are set free from depression, fear, frustration and hurt so that we might experience this abundant life.

Thoughts of taking your life do not come from God but from Satan. Jesus said, “The thief’s (Satan’s) purpose is to steal, kill and destroy. My purpose is to give life in all its fullness” (John 10:10). We are warned in 1 Peter 5:8-10, “Be careful – watch out for attacks from Satan, your great enemy. He prowls around like a hungry, roaring lion, looking for some victim to tear apart. Stand firm when he attacks. Trust the Lord. . . . He personally will come and pick you up, and set you firmly in place, and make you stronger than ever.”

The Suicide Prevention Hotline is 800-273-8255

Give all your problems to Jesus and “cast all your anxiety on Him” (1 Peter 5:7). Then center your attention upon His love for you and His wonderful plan for your life. Rest in the assurance that Jesus will “never leave you nor forsake you” (Hebrews 13:5).

God wants to help you if you will let Him, and so do others. God knows about your problems, and He also knows the answer to them. By yourself you may feel helpless, but with Christ’s help there is hope for tomorrow. He can bring good out of even the toughest situations.

We urge you to begin by giving your life over to Jesus Christ (click the link below). Then share your problems with a pastor or with someone else who can help you and encourage you. We just said a prayer for you and will continue praying. You can also use the link below to connect with someone from our team.

God doesn’t hate anyone, including you. He loves you, He loves you, He loves you!

    2. Fred Ermanovics says:

I just wanted to say that I just said a prayer for you also, and I hope you are still with us. For many years now I have also believed there was some kind of curse on my life. I’ve had many more bad days than good, more downs than ups. I too have felt ignored by God, and have asked others for help. I’ve basically been told, “You’re an adult – figure it out!” Well, adults don’t have all the answers, as you know. I have been depressed and lonely many many times also. I have gone to churches in the past, where I felt welcomed and nurtured. It helped me greatly when I was involved in small group Bible studies. We listened to each other’s cares and concerns, and prayed with each other too. I’m looking for that where I live now.

    3. Fred Ermanovics says:

I wanted to continue by saying that there have been times that I didn’t want to live, but I also didn’t want to die either. I just felt and different. I realized that giving up allows the evil one to win and is a permanent solution to a temporary problem, even if it doesn’t feel temporary. I’ve told God my thoughts and feelings about this and tried to reach out to others and treat them the way I wanted to be treated. It took a long time, but I hung in there and now I’m starting to see things turn around. I don’t understand why I don’t prosper the way some other people prosper, but I can’t bring myself to believe that God loves billions of people, but not me. Know that you have a kindred spirit in me, and eye care about you too.

  7. Juanita says:

Although I constantly pray that God will forgive my sins through Jesus, I feel Satan is in control because he did ask God if he could torment Job & God not only allowed this but He told Satan “do whatever just don’t kill him. This is what I believe is happening to me. How can I know for sure and what must I do about this? Please pray for all including me. Thank you…
