The most important advice I can give you is to seek God’s will for your future. God knows all about you, and He knows what’s best for you. Why not ask Him to guide you?

This doesn’t mean God is going to show you the whole “road map” all at once; He probably won’t. But He will show you the next step you ought to take, and that’s all you need to know right now. Later on, He may lead you into new paths, but you don’t need to worry about those right now. Remember God’s promise: “I am the Lord your God, who teaches you what is best for you, who directs you in the way you should go” (Isaiah 48:17).

How can you discover God’s will for your life? First, make sure of your commitment to Jesus Christ. If you have never given your life to Him and invited Him to come into your heart, do so right now. Then pray and ask God to guide you, and trust Him to do so. The Bible says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight” (Proverbs 3:5-6).

In addition, seek the advice of others (including your parents) who know you and your abilities. Look also for opportunities God may open up. College isn’t for everyone—but if you don’t go right now, don’t shut the door on it in the future. In today’s complex world, I believe young people need to get all the education they can.
