Have you ever asked yourself exactly why they are so upset over your decision to turn your back on their Christian faith? They may have several reasons–but almost surely the most important one is that they love you, and they don’t want to see you make a mistake.

Nor does God want you to make a mistake, because He loves you even more than your parents do. This is why I hope you will reconsider your decision to reject Christ. I don’t know what experiences have shaped your understanding of Christ, but my prayer is that you will come to see Him as He really is, and only then decide what to do with Him. Don’t be like Pontius Pilate, who cynically asked Jesus, “What is truth?”–then turned away without waiting for an answer (John 18:38).

Often people reject Christ without really understanding who He is. The Bible says He was God in human flesh, sent from heaven to save us from our sins. It even tells us that in Christ “are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge” (Colossians 2:3). If there is even a 10 percent chance these words are true, wouldn’t it be important to investigate them? Of course.

This is why I challenge you to open the pages of the New Testament for yourself, and ask God to show you if Christ is who He said He was. When you do, you’ll discover that God loves you, and by faith in Christ you can become His child forever.
