I’m thankful you want to make the church a part of your life together as a family. Now that you’re older, you probably suspect that you missed something by growing up without a church home, and you don’t want this to happen to your children.
But you didn’t only grow up without a church; more importantly, you grew up without God. Even if your parents said they believed in God (if they ever talked about it), He wasn’t an important part of their lives, nor did they think it was important for Him to be part of your life. They may even have denied that God existed, or that He cared about them. Like Pharaoh of old, many people today say, “Who is the Lord, that I should obey him…? I do not know the Lord” (Exodus 5:2).
But God made you, and every moment of your life is in His hands. More than that, God loves you — and He wants you to know Him and love Him in return. He loves you so much that He sent His Son, Jesus Christ, into the world to give His life for you. By a simple step of faith ask Jesus to come into your life today — and He will.
Then ask God to lead you to a church where not only will you feel welcome, but also where you can learn from the Bible and grow in your faith. When we come to Christ, God’s will is for us to grow closer to Him every day.
