Chaplains Minister to Kansas City After Police Shooting
The
Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (RRT)
deployed to Kansas City after two deputies were tragically shot outside the Wyandotte County courthouse on June 15. The officers had been providing routine transportation for an inmate from jail. Both officers later died of their injuries.
Chaplains pray over a fallen officer. Deputies Patrick Rohrer, 35, and Theresa King, 44, had a combined 30-plus years with the Wyandotte County Sheriff’s Office before their service suddenly came to an end.
Nine crisis-trained chaplains came to cover Kansas City in prayer.
The RRT offers emotional and spiritual support to those facing loss or in need of comfort.
A chaplain talks with a woman outside of the Mobile Ministry Center, which serves as the base of operations for the chaplains.
"Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me." —Psalm 23:2-3
A heartfelt embrace is shared at the memorial site.
The chaplains prayed with hundreds over the course of a few days while sharing
the hope of Christ
.
"Continue to pray," said chaplain coordinator Leo Grabowski. "Don't let the shield of prayer down because it does so much. Prayer must continue until there is no need for any heroes to lay their lives down."
