How would you deal with losing a child? After losing a son in the upcoming film Let There Be Light, actor Kevin Sorbo rejects God and does his best to mock Christianity. The faith-based film, set to open in theaters on Friday, Oct. 27, is focused on sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ.
Billy Graham Evangelistic Association President Franklin Graham called it one of the most compelling presentations of the Gospel that he’s seen on film. In a recent Facebook post, he talked about the positive attributes of Let There Be Light:
“As this movie faces issues of grief, God, and life after death, I pray it will cause many to seriously consider where they will spend eternity and understand that there is only one way to Heaven—through faith in Jesus Christ, the Light of the world,” he said.
In the movie, just four impressionable minutes during a life-threatening event is enough for Sorbo’s character to rethink his outlook on life, faith and family. The film portrays his struggle to find meaning and purpose through God’s love for him.
Kevin Sorbo is known for his roles in Hercules: The Legendary Journeys, as well as God’s Not Dead. In addition to his leading role in Let There Be Light, Sorbo directed the film as well. His wife, Sam Sorbo, also plays his wife in the movie, in which she co-wrote and produced with her husband. In 2015, Sam won “Best Supporting Actress” from the Utah Film Awards for her role in Just Let Go.
The film opens in theaters nationwide on Friday.
