Such fanciful ideas have absolutely no basis in fact. They come only from someone’s imagination, and you shouldn’t put any belief in them, for they simply aren’t true. The Bible says Jesus spent His whole early life with His parents in Nazareth (see Luke 2:51-52).

It’s true that the Bible tells us little about Jesus’ childhood—but what it does tell us is very revealing. At the age of 12, for example, Jesus went with His parents from their home in Nazareth to the city of Jerusalem. They went with a large group of people, and when they left to return home, Jesus’ parents assumed He was in the group.

But when they discovered He was missing, they quickly returned to Jerusalem to search for Him—and eventually found Him in the Temple, listening to those who were teaching the Bible. He told His parents, “Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house?”—indicating He already knew He was the Son of God, sent from heaven to save us from our sins (Luke 2:49).

The Gospels focus on Jesus’ later years for one reason: This is when Jesus carried out His ministry of teaching and salvation. Jesus said He came for one reason: “For the Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost” (Luke 19:10). And this includes you! God loves you; He loves you so much that His Son was willing to give His life for you. Respond by giving your life to Him.
