Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (BG-RRT) chaplains deployed to Buffalo, New York, following a horrific grocery store shooting on May 14. The community is grieving the deaths of 10 workers and shoppers who authorities say were killed in a racially motivated shooting. Three others were wounded.
The Tops Market is a popular store, favored by some customers who don't own cars but can walk to the store for groceries. This shooting, which took place inside and outside this market, is the worst in Buffalo's history.
Chaplains Frieda and Robert Roulds pray with Buffalo police officers. Aaron Salter Jr., a retired Buffalo officer who was working security during the shooting, confronted the shooter and was killed. Salter is being praised as a hero for his efforts.
News reports say the 13 victims, including the wounded, ranged in age from 20 to 86. Most were over age 50.
A chaplain talks with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. He and former Buffalo Bills' legends visited the memorial for victims on Thursday, following a visit the day before from Bills’ players, coaches and staff, as well as members of the Buffalo Sabres, the city's professional ice hockey team.
Many came to a makeshift memorial set up outside the grocery store. Thousands have left flowers, balloons, posters and other mementos in honor of those who lost their lives.
