Sharing Hope In Crisis: Breakfast Invitation

By   •   August 20, 2010

Does it seem to you that there has been an increase in the frequency and intensity of disasters in the world? Yet tragedies and crises that make the news are not the only ones. We have found that nearly 90% of people in churches are either in a personal crisis or know someone who is.

If you would be interested in learning how your church can become better prepared to appropriately share God’s hope with those who suffer, whether in the aftermath of a large disaster or through the equally devastating personal tragedies of life, the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (RRT) invites you to a breakfast meeting on Tuesday, September 14th from7:30 to 8:45 a.m.

There you will learn about an upcoming region-wide Sharing Hope In Crisis seminar scheduled on October 23, in Manchester, MO. The seminar will examine the biblical view on suffering, help participants gain a better understanding of trauma and what ministry in times of grief is like, and demonstrate practical ways to share God’s hope and comfort with friends, neighbors, and co-workers who experience a personal crisis or loss. There will also be an opportunity at the seminar to hear what God has done through the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team since September 11, 2001 to bring emotional and spiritual care through the Gospel of Jesus Christ to more than 500,000 disaster survivors in 11 countries. Opportunities will be presented for churches and individuals to become involved with the Rapid Response Team as we train and deploy volunteer chaplains to minister to people in the aftermath of a disaster, in this country and internationally.

Whether people lose a home, family member, or job in a Haiti earthquake, or people experience the same losses for different reasons in your local community, hopelessness and despair can still overwhelm their hearts. To help God’s people in your church respond with His compassion and care, I urge you to join us at this breakfast meeting to learn more about the upcoming one-day Sharing Hope In Crisis seminar.
