Kirk Franklin has been a welcome part of BGEA Crusades and Festivals for more than a decade. He once shared the stage with Billy Graham and has since brought his powerful gospel music to Franklin Graham Festivals around the world.
On Friday, August 14 he’ll headline the Greater Birmingham Festival of Hope in Alabama.

BGEA recently asked the 9-time GRAMMY winner and 16-time Dove award winner to answer a few questions ahead of the Birmingham Festival. Read on for his answers.
Q: What kinds of things are on the heart of Kirk Franklin these days?
A: Being a better man, husband, father, boss, leader and servant.
Q: How long have you partnered with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association and what is your favorite part of performing at a Crusade or Festival?
A: I’ve been a part of BGEA events ever since I can remember. I’ve always enjoyed partnering with them to encourage the people. The family and staff are always great to work with.
Q: What is your favorite memory of Billy Graham or a Billy Graham Crusade?
A: Too many memories to name! There’s no way I can pick one. He’s been such a blessing to me and my career.
Q: What are your expectations for the Greater Birmingham Festival of Hope?
A: I expect a night of encouragement and healing. All of my brothers and sisters of all races coming together to celebrate the love of our Father.
Q: What advice would you give aspiring young musicians?
A: For all aspiring musicians, remember that there is a lot of responsibility that comes with the mic and platform that you get as an artist. What you are trying to convey through your music?
