Q:

I almost got killed in an accident at work several months ago, and I've been wondering what it all means. What do you think? I'm not a religious person, but I know I was really lucky, and someone must have been looking out after me or I'd be dead.

The real question you should be asking is this: What was God trying to say to you through this accident? What is He trying to teach you right now?

You see, it wasn’t “luck” that saved you—it was God. You might not think about Him very much—but you are constantly in His thoughts, because He made you and He put you on this earth. More than that, He loves you, and He yearns for you to love Him in return. He loves you so much that He was willing to send His only Son into the world to die for your sins. The Bible says, “This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins” (1 John 4:10).

And now He has given you a second chance—another opportunity to open your heart to Christ and let Him put your feet on a different path. The Bible says that God “is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance” (2 Peter 3:9). Someday you will die, and it would be tragic for you to enter eternity without Christ.

Don’t turn your back on God or ignore what He is trying to tell you! Instead, repent of your sins and ask Christ to come into your life as your Lord and Savior. You need Him, both for this life and the next. Don’t gamble with your soul, but give your life to Christ today.
