Billy Graham’s 1957 New York Crusade Sermon at Yankee Stadium

50:32   •   July 20, 2017

On May 15, 1957, the New York Crusade meetings began in Madison Square Garden and continued for an unprecedented 16 weeks. On what was planned to be the final night of the Crusade (July 20, 1957), 100,000 people jammed Yankee Stadium to hear Billy Graham preach. At that time, it was the largest crowd in the stadium’s history.

Because of popularity, the New York Crusade was extended to September 1, 1957. Nearly 2.4 million people attended the meetings and more than 61,000 made decisions for Christ.

I was born in the Bronx in 1952 and only 5 years old at that time. I saw a lot of games played there growing up. Sorry I missed this record breaker.

I am from India. I am the son of a pastor who was inspired by Billy Graham’s book and used to preach to me. Now I would like to listen more and more to strengthen my relationship with Jesus.

We need a great revival like this in every nook and cranny of the USA. It wasn’t Billy Graham who did it. It was the Holy Spirit of God. Dare we get out and publicly preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ? I’m certain that we can expect our Sovereign Lord to revive the Church in America and reap a great harvest of souls for the Kingdom of God.
