New Generation, Same Gospel Message

While that tradition continues, there is more emphasis this year than ever on the next generation. Along with general sessions from leaders in next generation ministry such as Chad Miller, Dare to be a Daniel Director for BGEA, and Nick Hall, who conducted our Rock the River evangelism training, the School of Evangelism will offer interactive sessions. These sessions will allow participants to gather and ask questions of the speakers in an open forum, even after they hear their prepared remarks in the regular sessions.

“We’ve seen a big emphasis on youth in recent years from the BGEA with examples like Dare to be a Daniel and most recently, the Rock the River Tour. That is something pastors care about, whether it’s kids in the community, or kids in their own church,” said Kathy Maas, Managing Director for the Schools of Evangelism. “So, we’re excited to add these interactive sessions to the schedule this year. It should be a real value-add.”

Sue Miller, a children’s ministry expert from Atlanta will come to stress the importance of evangelism at an even more tender age.

“Although our program doesn’t have a heavy emphasis on children’s ministry, this are is very important. Studies have shown that people better their chances of becoming believers if they do so by age 18. So, the earlier in life someone hears the Gospel, the better,” said Maas.

Kim Newlen, founder of Sweet Monday ministry will be a featured guest at the School of Evangelism. Sweet Monday is an outreach ministry based on the Word of God and get-togethers of women of all walks of life who may have common interests, such as cooking, sewing, scrapbooking, organization, etc.

“Attendees will have new ways to be informed, equipped and challenged,” said Maas. “Regardless of what kind of ministry you are in, you can go away with principles to go to work, wherever you are, whatever stage you are in ministry.”

The next School will take place September 15-17 at the Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove. Visit the Schools of Evangelism Web site to learn more or to register for this upcoming event.
