Born to a single, teenaged Buddhist mother, Baucham wasn’t exposed to the Gospel until he was 19 years old. Having a reasonable approach to everything, he was interested in the logic behind faith. Through his own intellectual and unusual journey, he found Christ.
“I have always been interested in the reason for things. Because of the way I am wired, I was being trained in apologetics before I even knew Christ,” said Baucham. “My faith in Christ is as substantive as it is anything else.”
Very soon, that passion will translate into a hopeful message at the Billy Graham Training Center at The Cove. From September 25-27, he will conduct a seminar, Living in Turbulent Times. His passion for this topic was ignited several years ago when he wrote The Ever-Loving Truth Bible study. This series encourages participants to know and live truth in the opposition of the lies that our current culture feeds us.
He will be teaching from the first six chapters of Daniel, highlighting that God uses His servants in turbulent times.
“The book of Daniel brings a message of hope. When you have the right foundation, as Daniel did, you won’t just survive, you’ll thrive in spite of ungodly opposition,” said Baucham. “When you’re stripped of everything: parents, church, culture, etc., God shows us through Daniel that the providence of God is sufficient. None of us have this level of opposition in our way.”
He continued, “I want the seminar attendees to leave with hope and an understanding of God’s providence. That is what the book of Daniel is about. Even in horrendous circumstances, the God of the universe was directing those things in His will, just like he is now. The book of Daniel is full of hope. My hope is that they will leave with real, biblical, abiding hope.”
