How Should Christians Respond to Pride Month?

Every June, rainbows and LGBTQ memorabilia take over social media, stores, and businesses. And every year, retail giants push the envelope more than ever before with marketing strategies that go against God’s design.

“Do we boycott during Pride Month? How do we discuss this with our children?” On her latest episode on the Fearless podcast, Cissie Graham Lynch addresses her listeners’ top questions and concerns about this controversial month.

Taking a deeper look at the origin and influence of Pride Month, Lynch encourages believers to navigate this season with both truth and grace.

“Pride Month is an entire month dedicated to the uplifting of LGBTQ voices, celebration of the LGBTQ culture, and the support of their rights,” Lynch said. “Should Christians uplift, celebrate, and support LGBTQ voices, their culture, [and] their rights in the act of loving people?”

Some churches blur the lines between loving others and supporting sinful lifestyles. Other churches completely sidestep grace in the name of advocating for truth. But do either of these responses honor God?

“Loving is not affirming what we know as sin,” Lynch shared on the podcast. “You can love those around you and never sacrifice the truth you stand on.”

The world children are facing now is one of confusion, Lynch warned her listeners. Having intentional conversations about current issues can help children know what is true and honoring to God—and what is truly loving to our neighbors.

“Know God’s Word because Scripture says those who know their God will always be able to stand in strength and take action,” Lynch said. “And that’s what we need in today’s time.”
