Violence ended New Year’s celebrations in New Orleans, Louisiana, when a man drove a rental truck at high speed into a crowd on Bourbon Street—a hot spot for nightlife among young adults.
Around 3 a.m. on the first morning of 2025, the attacker plowed through pedestrians for three blocks, killing 14 people. About three dozen more were injured, including two law enforcement officers. The suspect died at the scene.
At the invitation of local church leaders, BG-RRT has deployed crisis-trained chaplains to minister to those grieving in New Orleans.
“This is a clear indication of the evil in the human heart, and the evil that is around us in this world,” Franklin Graham shared on social media. “We pray for those who lost loved ones and the many injured.”
“This level of violence and hate is unfathomable and heartbreaking. We weep for the many whose lives were forever changed through this senseless and brutal terror attack,” said Josh Holland, international director of BG-RRT.
“In this dark hour, our chaplains will offer emotional and spiritual care—the hope and comfort of Jesus Christ—to the hurting and broken in New Orleans.”
Please pray for people mourning the loss of loved ones, and for those who were injured in this horrific event.
