Four high school students are dead after a student allegedly opened fire inside a Michigan high school on Tuesday, November 30.
The Billy Graham Rapid Response Team (BG-RRT) is deploying to Oxford Township, Michigan, to provide emotional and spiritual support. Six chaplains are currently ministering to the shaken community.
Three students between the ages of 14 and 17 died Tuesday, and a fourth student, age 17, died Wednesday. Seven other people were injured, including a teacher. Several remain hospitalized.
“Our hearts are heavy to hear about the tragic school shooting in Michigan,” said Josh Holland, assistant director of the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team. “As we respond to natural and man-made disasters around the world, none are more heartbreaking than school shootings.”
The suspected gunman, a student, was taken into custody following the tragedy.
The BG-RRT is ministering to students and community members at the Oxford High School sign, covered with flowers, candles, teddy bears and balloons. In addition, chaplains are providing support to law enforcement officers who responded to the call.
“Our crisis-trained chaplains are available to pray with, and share God’s love with, those who have been impacted by this horrific tragedy,” said Holland.
