A Day of Faith, Rock, & Love

By   •   August 17, 2009

All awesome things must come to an end and tonight in the Twin Cities of Minnesota, Rock The River 2009 came to a rousing close. It was a beautiful day on Harriet Island Regional Park as 23,000 people came out to hear some incredible music and a transforming message from Franklin Graham.

As with Baton Rouge, St. Louis, and Quad Cities before it, the Twin Cities got a fantastic line-up of artists: Flyleaf, Kirk Franklin, DecembeRadio, Lecrae, Superchick, FLAME, and Canton Jones. Each performer brought their unique talents to the concert, moving the masses to pump their fists, mosh in the pit, and sing along at the top of their lungs.

Today’s tour stop was especially meaningful for the BGEA, as our headquarters used to be based in the Twin Cities. But if the location has changed, the message certainly hasn’t:

Franklin brought the Word of Life at three different times throughout the day, offering challenges from Scripture along with illustrations from his own experiences. He urged everyone to realize that “God’s got a plan for your life. He wants to use you. Jesus will come into your heart and change your life.”

He also quoted from Matthew and Mark, saying, “‘What should it profit a man, if he gains the whole world, yet loses his soul?'” We don’t know how long we each of us will have. Trust Jesus tonight. This is between you and God for eternity. Come to Jesus! Wherever you are, just come on! Hallelujah! What a Savior! He loves you! Come on!”

As day turned to night and the concert ended, it became clear that many across the venue had heard that call and responded in faith. Hundreds of people answered the tug of the Holy Spirit on their hearts.

You too can accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. Follow the Steps to Peace and make sure your soul will be with God for eternity.
